Studio Policies

Tuition and Payment


Payment Methods: Credit card payments are preferred and are processed through Stripe. G.V.S. Plan students may set up autopay of their monthly installment plan through the MyMusicStaff student portal. 

Payment in advance by check is also available:  please make checks payable to Gori Voice Studios, LLC.


Refunds: We do not issue refunds.


Discontinuing lessons (for monthly payment plans): Please give a full 30-days notice.

 

Payment terms and schedule: 


  • Initial Fit and Drop-In lessons must be prepaid at the time of booking.
  • Students in the Growing Vocal Stars program will be billed monthly on the first of each month during the months of their plan. 
  • Late payments – received after the 7th of the month – are subject to a $20 late fee
  • Missed payments: if no payment is received by the 15th of the month, no further lessons will be given until the balance due is paid.  The studio reserves the right to reassign the student’s time slot.


Family Discount: We offer a 10% discount on our package plans for families with more than one enrolled student. Full tuition is due for the first family member enrolled, but tuition for subsequent family members is discounted 10% for that academic year.


Studio Communications


Our primary mode of communication for studio news, updates, and events is by email. G.V.S. program students will have additional access to studio communications through their MMS student portal.


Lesson Reminders: You may choose whether to receive your lesson reminders via email, text message, or both. Tuition Plan students may do this via their MyMusicStaff student portal page. Drop-in Students may do this when registering via Acuity.


We are happy to answer any questions or concerns.  Students may contact us through either email or phone calls to our studio at 301-946-6530. (Please note that this number cannot accept text messages.)  We will reply to emails and phone calls within 24 hours whenever possible.


Studio Schedule and Time Considerations


Studio Closure Dates are set before the beginning of our academic year. Please refer to our Academic Year calendar. 


Closures due to Inclement Weather: The studio will remain open so long as we have electricity and internet. In case of poor driving conditions, students may request online lessons in lieu of in-person lessons. If the studio must fully close, we will notify students via telephone or text message. 


Cancellations with Advance Notice and Rescheduling


G.V.S. Program Students: You are welcome to cancel as many lessons as you wish and reschedule as possible subject to the following terms and conditions:


  • All cancellations and rescheduling must be done through your MMS student portal. Please do not email your teacher; MMS will notify us.
  • Lessons must be canceled 48 hours or more in advance to be eligible for rescheduling.  When you cancel a lesson through your MMS student portal page, MyMusicStaff will generate a “make-up credit”. You can then use this “make-up credit” to book an alternate time.  The time slot of your cancelled lesson will then be changed to a "make-up" slot,  available to your fellow GVS community members.
  • “Make-up credit” lessons are NOT guaranteed.
  • You may use the “make-up credit” to reschedule into a time slot opened by another student’s cancellation or during one of our Flex Weeks.
  • TIP FOR STUDENTS PARTICIPATING IN SCHOOL THEATRICAL PRODUCTIONS: You will want to list your lesson time as a conflict when auditioning! Continuing your lessons is one of the best things your can do to support your school’s production. If you need us to speak to your show’s director, please let us know.


Drop-In Students: Drop-in lessons are paid at time of booking to secure your spot in the studio's schedule. 

  • Sessions canceled 48 hours or more in advance may be rescheduled one time through a special link for an additional $20 fee. We will send you this link if the lesson is eligible for rescheduling. 
  • If you are unable to cancel at least 48 hours in advance, in lieu of this lesson you may request an Asynchronous or Non-Singing Lesson (see next section) during your scheduled time. 


Late Cancellations, e.g. less than 48 hours notice


If you must cancel a lesson with less than 48 hours’ notice, you are welcome to take advantage of one of the following options:


  • You may request an Online Lesson during your regular lesson time. If you are unable to sing due to illness, we can use your lesson time to:
    • work on music theory, dramatic presentation, character development, and languages
    • plan repertoire
    • review performances by you or other singers
    • other strategic planning.
  • You may request an Asynchronous Lesson, which could include one of the following:
    • You can request that we make you a personalized video or audio practice recording.
    • You can request that we research and prepare you a listening list of repertoire options.
    • You can request that we review and give you feedback on recordings of you practicing or performing.


Sickness Policy


Cancellations due to illness are subject to the policies listed above. Please do not come to an In-Person Lesson if you or any members of your household are showing any symptoms of communicable illness! If you must cancel with less than 48 hours’ notice, you may request either an Online Lesson or one of the Asynchronous options up to 2 hours before your scheduled lesson. Please refer also to our current COVID-19 policy and Liability Waiver.


Teacher Cancellation:


G.V.S. Program students:  If your regular teacher is unable to meet with you, our other teacher will serve as your substitute teacher during your regular lesson time. If both teachers are unavailable, we will offer you your choice of rescheduling the lesson or utilizing one of the Asynchronous Lesson options listed above.
